Tournaments

Online poker tournaments provide great entertainment and can prove very profitable. From No-Limit Texas Holdem to Freerolls, there are tournaments happening 24/7 – whether it’s a Sit & Go or a Fixed Tournament you're sure to find an online tournament to suit your style of play!

A 'tournament' is an online poker contest in which all players start with an equal amount of poker chips and continue to play until one player remains and accumulates all the chips. Blinds and antes are raised consistently throughout the tournament. When a player loses all his/her chips, they are eliminated from play. The poker tournament will continue until one player wins all the chips.

Guaranteed Pot Tournaments – The total pot is set to a guaranteed limit no matter how many players sign up to the tournament.

Freeroll Tournaments – There is no buy-in to the tournament, although some tournaments called Freerolls require ‘player points’ or some sort of poker room loyalty scheme to enter.

Quallifiers & Satallite Tournaments – A pre-tournament offered at a reduced buy-in relative to the main tournament. Winners of Satellite Tournaments, and often placed placed players, are offered free entry to the next level Satellite Tournament or main tournament. Quallifiers & Satallite Tournaments may be offered as Freerolls.

Sit & Go Tournament – Single Table Tournament (STT)
Sit & Go tournaments are called so because as soon as all the players are seated, usually 10, the game begins. The game will continue until the one winning player remains. Prizes are won by placed players also, usually top 3. Players choose their seat on a first-come-first-served basis.

You may be allowed to 'unregister' from a Sit and Go tournament while registration is still open.

Heads Up Tournaments:
Heads up tournaments are one on one Sit and Go tournaments played between two players. However, you can also have a multi table heads up tournament where all the players are divided into tables of two, the winner of each table progressing to the next table.

Fixed Tournament – Scheduled Tournament - Multi Table Tournament (MTT)
Multi-table tournaments are the most popular online poker tournaments in the world today. They challenge your online poker skills and give you the chance to win big prizes with small wagers!

Fixed Tournaments are called so because they have a set starting time and players must register in advance in order to play, late entry is allowed in some fixed tournaments. Fixed tournaments have many players with multiple tables starting off simultaneously.

Before the tournament is scheduled to start your poker room will notify you then you will be randomly assigned a seat prior to the start of the tournament.

As play progresses and players are knocked out, the remaining players are moved to different tables in order to keep them full, this happens automatically so you don’t have to do anything.

As players are eliminated from the fixed tournament, tables are combined, reducing the number until there is only one table left, the infamous ‘Final Table’.

When the number of players and tables has reduced to a critical point Hand For Hand Play is used. This occurs to allow all tables to play the same exact number of hands. Again this happens automatically, whereby you will have to wait until all tables have completed that hand.

Rebuys – some Fixed Tournaments allow players to buy extra chips during the tournament. This is usually only allowed up until a fixed point, such as the first break.

Deal Making - Deal making allows fixed tournament players at the final table to make a deal for all or part of the remaining prize pool.
