Phil Gordon heads pack at WSOPC event

Phil Gordon ended Day One of the New Orleans World Series of Poker Circuit event with a significant chip lead last night, finishing with nearly double the number of chips of his nearest competitor.

346 players started the New Orleans WSOPC yesterday but the field was decimated in no time, with just 85 players surviving into Day Two.

Phil Gordon ended the day with 187,000 in chips, fully 85,000 chips ahead of his nearest rival. That will put him in great stead to take down the $516,801 first prize, although seasoned poker fans will know that nothing is won on the first day of a big buy-in tournament.
