It may be a testament to how far Paul Wasicka has come since he finished runner-up to Jamie Gold in the 2006 WSOP main-event, but the person impersonating him on MySpace is clearly not doing it as homage to Wasicka.
According to Paul Wasicka’s blog someone has set up a MySpace account in his name along with an AOL instant messenger account. He has apparently been using Wasicka’s identity in order to ask people for money.
Apparently the impostor claims to have made over $25,000 from people more than happy to give their money to a man who won over $6 million in the WSOP alone and has collected more than a million dollars in tournament earnings since then.
According to Wasicka’s blog the person impersonating him demanded $10,000 when Paul’s business manager asked him to cease his activities and take down the MySpace site.
Discussing the fraud, which he was alerted to by fans who had spotted the fake, Wasicka said: “Of all the people in the poker world asking for money I’m not one of them.”
