Absolute Poker and UltimateBet dump poker pros

A number of high profile poker pros will be on the lookout for new sponsorship deals soon after Absolute Poker and UltimateBet decided to dump most of their biggest stars.

Antonio Esfandiari, Michael Mizrachi, and Mark Seif are among the casualties as Absolute Entertainment, owners of both online poker sites, executes a shift in its marketing plan.

Speaking to Casino City Times, a company official said Absolute Entertainment was re-evaluating its strategy of sponsoring poker professionals. Principally the decision has been taken on the basis that reducing the number of sponsored pros should protect the sites ability to serve US customers.

Surviving the cull will be Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke, who have represented UltimateBet since the sites inception. They will both continue to promote UltimateBet at tournaments such as the UltimateBet Aruba Classic, and other international events.
