Firepay includes Canadians in online gaming ban

The online payment processor Firepay has shocked the online gambling community by extending its ban on online gambling transactions to Canada.

Canada has no restrictions on online gambling so the news has come as a big surprise, but Firepay say the move is motivated by a change in their “merchant acceptance policy” for Canadian consumers.

Firepay has indicated they will stop processing Canadian payments to online gambling merchants by February 21st, 2007. Customers will be allowed to withdraw money from gambling accounts until February 28th however.
