David Daneshgar and Jay Glazer collect WPC rings as momentum gathers towards main-event
David Daneshgar ($5,000 NL Hold’em) and Jay Glazer ($1,500 NL Hold’em) were the latest victors in the Five Diamond World Poker Classic as the preliminary events continued to gather momentum towards the $15,000 main-event.

The $5000 event saw a slight reduction in numbers as the higher buy-in took its toll, but 175 entries still meant a sizeable prize pool of close to $1 million and a first place prize for Daneshgar of $330,105. It was Daneshgar’s third victory and fifth six figure payout for 2006, putting the California resident into fourth place in the Player of the Year rankings.

The much less experienced Jay Glazer had to overcome a filed of 512 players to capture his first tournament victory, collecting $244,395 along the way. He had to overcome a tricky final table that included three time WSOP bracelet winner Fred Bonyadi, but the Mercer Island, Washington, resident was up to the task.

There are just five events to go now before the $15,000 buy-in Doyle Brunson North American Poker Classic, the main event of the World Poker Classic and the next stop on the World Poker Tour.
