BetOnSports makes deal with U.S government
BetOnSports, the UK gambling company whose CEO David Carruthers was arrested in Dallas earlier this year, have struck a deal with the US government that will see them avoid the expensive civil suit threatened by the authorities.

In exchange for the suit being abandoned BetOnSports must agree to permanently cease all operations in the US (something they have already done), refund all money from American accounts and, most importantly, provide full co-operation with the government investigation into illegal online gambling.

BetOnSports now has seven days to provide federal investigators with documents and company records. They must provide a toll-free number to help American customers trying to withdraw their money from the site, and they have been required to place a conspicuous warning on its site reminding US players of the laws regarding online gambling.

Prior to the arrest of David Carruthers BetOnSports was one of the world’s leading online gambling firms, taking in over $1 billion from US customers alone. The current deal with the US government ends any possibility of civil action; there is, however, still a criminal case pending against the company.
