World Poker Tour (WPT) to stop in Asia
With the WSOP well behind us the focus of the poker world is once again on the World Poker Tour. The season re-commenced in style, with the Legend of Poker providing one of the most exciting final tables in a long time, while the upcoming Borgata is sure to be another cracking tournament.

Right now however, attention is focused on the WPT’s business plans. WPT Enterprises (the parent company of the WPT) recently announced that they had secured rights to broadcast the first two seasons of the WPT into the previously untapped Asian markets.

WPTE has signed with Macau Cable in Macau, the only place in China where it is legal to gamble (and the second-biggest gambling resort in the world), and MediaCorp in Singapore. That brings the number of WPT broadcasting territories to 154, but far more significant is the more than 2 billion people in the Asian markets that the WPT will now have access to.

“These two deals give us a secure foothold in Southeast Asia, along with our deals in the Philippines,” said WPTE executive Gary MacKinney.
