PartyPoker Monster: Week One – Johnwatlanta takes down the prize
The first of the PartyPoker Monster $100,000 weekly freerolls took place last weekend and pulled in a monster field of 4908 competitors. Yet despite the massive field almost half the entrants were guaranteed a place in the monthly $1 million guaranteed with the top 2000 finishers going through.

Ever since the Monster was announced players have been trying desperately to qualify for the weekly freeroll, which would give them nearly a 50 percent chance of qualifying for the monthly tournament.

In the end there were 4908 players signed up at the start of play, scheduled for 4pm EST. Amazingly the tournament took just eight hours to complete – surely a record for a 5000 person event.

The final table featured CAPTV8ING, dapper2, gsp4444, johnwatlanta, kce_21, Maui, PostFlopPhobia, reggaeman751, RogueK9 and superkune11. All ten of these players had done excellently to make it to the final table, but there was still a lot of work to do as the payout was extremely top heavy. First place received $12,500 while second place received just $250!

In the end it came down to a battle between superkune11 and johnwatlanta for the top spot, a battle from which johnwatlanta emerged victorious and $12,500 richer. Superkune11 received $10,000 while RogueK9 claimed 3rd spot and $5000.
