Michael Jordan to play in Charity Poker Tournament
As the profile of poker continues to rise so does the quality of celebrity in attendance at the now frequent charity poker tournaments. The latest charity tournament is being organised by former Chicago Bulls player Trent Tucker, to help fund the Trent Tucker Youth Program, and he has pulled out all the stops to make it a tournament to remember.

The biggest draw of all is the attendance of Tucker’s team mate and possibly the greatest American sports star off all time: Michael Jordan. Jordan will be accompanied by Bulls team mates Scottie Pippen and Charles Oakley and also in attendance will be Microsoft founder and owner of the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers as well as the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks Paul Allen.

There will also be a host of top poker professionals joining the party. Between them Johnny Chan and Chris “Jesus” Ferguson Tucker have two WSOP titles and 15 bracelets. Add possibly the most feared poker player alive at the moment in Phil Ivey and one of poker’s rising young stars in Patrik Antonius and you have a pretty saucy mix.

The Eighth Annual Trent Tucker Celebrity Golf and Poker tournament takes place in, of all places, Minnesota, where Tucker resides. The Trent Tucker Youth Program (to where proceeds from the event will go) is non-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping inner city youth make positive choices about their future. Tucker started his organisation eight years ago and is at the forefront of the charity, which uses school programs, educational and career guidance and other methods to help empower young people and increase their self respect.

The tournament will be sponsored by Polaroid, the Canterbury Park racetrack and the World Poker Store. Along with money from the $2500 buy-in tournament, which due to the celebrities and high profile poker players attending should draw a big crowd the event should raise a substantial sum for a worthy cause.
