Harrington on Hold’em III hits the bookshops
Ask most poker experts who ranks among the best authors in the ever expanding field of poker literature and there is one name that is guaranteed to appear on every list – Dan Harrington.
The 1995 World Series of Poker Championship winner received rapturous acclaim for his first two poker books (volume I and II of “Harrington on Hold’em”) in particular for his heavy emphasis on post-flop strategy; it is already looking like his third book will be no exception.
“Harrington on Hold’em, Volume III: The Workbook” uses examples of real poker hands (some of them from televised tournaments) to analyse strategic decision making with the knowledge of hindsight. The result is a thoroughly absorbing and highly educational tome, with the knowledge that these are real hands played by some of the world’s greatest poker players adding immeasurably to the authenticity of the analysis.
As with Harrington’s previous poker literature this is not an ideal book for new poker players as it is clearly written with the more advanced player in mind. It is however all the better for this concentration on one demographic, allowing Harrington to give proper attention to difficult problems. All in all, another fine achievement by one of poker’s finest authors.
