75 percent of Americans oppose Internet gambling ban
A new poll was published recently which showed that nearly 75 percent of Americans are against the Congress backed proposed ban against gambling.

The poll of nearly 1000 American adults conducted by ICR market research was unequivocal in its conclusions: Americans don’t want the US government to ban internet gambling.

Immediately the pro-poker organisation The Poker Players Alliance, seized on the results of the poll and demanded the Congress re-think their plans.

“The new poll results are a clear illustration of the public's feelings on this issue, said Michael Bolcerek, president of the Poker Players Alliance. “Simply put, people don't want their member of Congress telling them what they can and cannot do in their own home - especially when it comes to a game that's as all-American as jazz or basketball.”

The poll questioned 964 randomly selected American adults on various elements of gambling control. The question which generated the most uniform answers was: “Should the federal government prevent Americans from playing poker in the privacy of your own home?” to which 95% of those polled said no. The question for which there was least agreement was: “Do you believe the federal government should be managing Americans' gambling behaviours on the Internet?" to which 66% answered no, 27% answered yes, and 6.5 percent said they didn’t know.
