Poker Superstars III airs on FSN
The third season of Poker Superstars got under way on the Fox Sports Network recently, promising another helping of high quality poker from the best in the business.

Poker Superstars is an invitational, made-for-TV poker event featuring 25 of the world’s best poker players competing for a first prize of $500,000. To make it more interesting the players compete over a series of sit-n-go format tournaments, winning points depending on their finishing positions. The field is then cut down to 16 players, then four (via four quarter-final tables with the winner progressing) and then the final two players compete heads-up for the title.

The good thing about the format is that it ensures players compete more than once during the series, giving viewers the chance to see as much as possible of their favourite players.

And what a list! Among the 25 invitees are inaugural Poker Superstars champion Gus Hansen, season II champion and WSOP legend Johnny Chan, fellow WSOP Champions Joe Hachem (2005), Greg Raymer (2004), Chris Moneymaker (2003), Juan Carlos Mortensen (2001), Chris Ferguson (2000) and Phil Hellmuth (1989), the ‘voice of poker’ Mike Sexton, 2004 player of the year Daniel Negreanu, veteran player Barry Greenstein, top female player Jennifer Harman, and many many more.

So far Mike Sexton, Jeff Shulman and Antonio Esfandiari are out in front having won their events, closely followed by Barry Greenstein, Phil Hellmuth and Jennifer Tilly. It promises to be an exciting third season, so watch this space to see how the action pans out.
