WPT Legends of Poker: Victory in under 4 hours
It didn’t take long for the final table to kick into gear. After his excruciating (and crippling) bad beat at the end of yesterday’s play Scotty Nguyen was going to need to make a move with his short stack, and on the 18th hand he moved his $247,000 stack in from the small blind. Hoyt Corkins made the call from the BB and Scotty was delighted to see his AK was up against Hoyt’s A-7; the delight was short lived however – a seven on the river meant it was all over for Scotty baby!

PartyPoker Monster: Week One – Johnwatlanta takes down the prize
The first of the PartyPoker Monster $100,000 weekly freerolls took place last weekend and pulled in a monster field of 4908 competitors. Yet despite the massive field almost half the entrants were guaranteed a place in the monthly $1 million guaranteed with the top 2000 finishers going through.

WPT Legends of Poker
The first post-WSOP WPT event kicked off last weekend with the Legends of Poker’s $9,700 buy-in event at the Bicycle Club in L.A. As usual the event pulled in a strong crowd proving that the poker world has (almost) fully recovered from the WSOP hangover.

Gold vs. Leyser: “that” phone call
Details of the lawsuit being filed by Bruce Crispin Leyser against 2006 WSOP winner Jamie Gold have recently come to public attention, including transcripts of the alleged phone call that took place the morning before the final table. It makes for fascinating reading and, if genuine, could prove a serious problem for the new poker world champion.

Michael Jordan to play in Charity Poker Tournament
As the profile of poker continues to rise so does the quality of celebrity in attendance at the now frequent charity poker tournaments. The latest charity tournament is being organised by former Chicago Bulls player Trent Tucker, to help fund the Trent Tucker Youth Program, and he has pulled out all the stops to make it a tournament to remember.

2007 WSOP: Events 27 – 29
We have now passed the half way line in the 2007 World Series, and some of the more exciting events are fast approaching, such as the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship and the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E Championship, which last year produced one of the highest quality final tables of all time. In the meantime however, there is still plenty of money and jewellery to be won.

2007 WSOP: Events 21 to 26
With 26 events now played the 2007 WSOP is almost at the half way stage. Although numbers have been slightly down on last year the Rio is still buzzing with thousands of poker players, and the overall feeling is definitely positive, especially for these lot:

2007 WSOP: Events #17 - #21
The WSOP continues to roll on, and as we get further into proceedings it seems the pro players are beginning to get their teeth stuck into the final tables.
